Cambridge B1 Academy

Every Part of B1 Preliminary, One Exam at a Time

TCKR Labs - FZCO School packages: No

Cambridge B1 Academy splits the whole B1 Preliminary (PET) into its parts so you can practise one task at a time. It has 1,071 exams across Reading, Use of English, Listening, Writing and Speaking, with an explanation for every question, and the first exam of each part opens in the browser with no account.

For PET candidates who like a clear, step by step plan, it is a very good fit.

What Cambridge B1 Academy does

Many B1 apps offer a mix of exercises and leave you to work out how they relate to the real exam. Cambridge B1 Academy, built by TCKR Labs, is organised exactly like the B1 Preliminary papers instead, part by part, so it is always clear which task you are practising and how it will look on exam day. All 1,071 exams are complete parts of the exam, not a few loose questions.

Every paper, part by part

Reading is the largest section, with 303 exams across Signs & Notices, People Matching, Long Text and Missing Sentences. Use of English has 156 Multiple Choice and Open Cloze exams, Listening has 111 exams covering Pictures, Different Situations, Gapped Text and Multiple Choice, Writing has 180 Email, Article and Story tasks, and Speaking has 321 exams for General Questions, Photograph Description, Paired Discussion and Final Discussion. Each exam is marked out of 10, and 6 or more is a pass, a simple guide to how close you are to the 140 needed on the Cambridge English Scale.

Explanations for every answer

After checking your answers you can open an explanation for each question, showing why the right answer works and the others do not. Any exam can be reset and tried again later, and that cycle of trying, reading and retrying is where most B1 progress comes from.

Listening and Speaking like the real exam

The listening player can pause, go back ten seconds and change speed, with the full transcript always available. Each explanation also links to the moment in the recording where the answer was said, so you hear exactly what you missed. Speaking tasks come with their photographs, questions and timings, and you can record yourself, listen back and try again. Recordings stay on your device.

Writing corrected by AI

Emails, articles and stories are written with a live word counter that keeps you within the exam range. Ask for a correction and you get a score, written feedback, suggestions and a list of grammar and spelling mistakes. One correction uses one AI credit, and a free account starts with two.

Full mock exams

The Exam Simulator gives you a whole Reading, Listening or Writing paper against the clock, with no answers until you hand it in, followed by a review of every part with its score and your time next to the real exam's. The Exam Generator writes a new exam on any topic you pick.

  • 1,071 B1 Preliminary exams: organised part by part like the official papers.
  • Scores and explanations: a mark out of 10 for each exam and a reason for each answer.
  • Real audio: speed control, ten-second skips, transcripts and linked explanations.
  • AI Writing correction: a score, feedback, suggestions and a mistake list for emails, articles and stories.
  • Speaking recorder: every task with its photos and timings, recorded only on your device.
